The design team needed a product. I designed the one we run on.
PDX is the product design team at Group Bayport. PDX Go is the internal platform I designed for it: the team, treated as a product with users, flows and unmet needs. Nobody else was designing for the people who design everything else.
The org's knowledge lived in people's heads, and its state lived nowhere.
Targets in spreadsheets, ownership in memory, last quarter's lessons evaporating into Slack. A design org that could diagnose a product's broken flows in an afternoon was running on none of its own medicine.
The whole org, live, in one place.
The team as a product.
The method was the same one every case on this site runs: find where the flow breaks, build the piece that connects it, and make each piece feed the next. Doing that for my own team is the purest version of the thesis I can show you, because there was no client to hand me a brief. The unmet needs had to be found.
